A 70-year-old German tourist has died in a shark attack off the coast of Sharm el-Sheikh – the latest in a series of shark attacks in the Red Sea over the past five days. A number of tour operators have cancelled all water sports and boat trips following the attacks, which have sparked a panic akin to the movie “Jaws”.

A Panama oil tanker broke in two as it made its way through the Red Sea towards Egypt's Suez Canal spilling 60 tons of fuel. The vessel’s Filipino captain, said that crew members were cleaning up the cargo tanks when all of a sudden the ship "split in two for reasons yet unknown." The tanker was on its way to Suez for maintenance. The tanker was not transporting any oil at the time except for the 60 tons destined for its own usage.
